The FEMOZ International Conference on Rural Food Environments held at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) in Maputo, Mozambique in February 2024 brought together experts, academics, students and members of the public.
The intensive 2 day conference was organised by the FEMOZ project consortium (the UEM, the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (TH Köln) and the Frankenforder Forschungsgesellschaft (FFG). Its main objective was to present the results of the FEMOZ project, whose applied and interdisciplinary research into food environments as well as food and nutritional challenges in Mozambique has been taking place since 2021.
The programme was organised into five thematic sessions, three sessions on Day 1 (14 February) and two on Day 2 (15 February), with specific topics presented in the form in the form of papers, panel discussions and posters. The conference was organised in a hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtual) to increase accessability and to reach a wider audience. Each thematic session opened with a key note presentation which served as an introduction to the topic and were followed by parallel in-depth presentations. The conference concluded with an expert panel discussion on the topic of "How to transfer research results into political action: Challenges and opportunities"
